2016? REALLY? Are you as amazed as I am that we are halfway through this year already? Time just flies so fast.
Maybe it’s because so much has happened in the past three years.
In June of 2013, my goal of attaining my USDF Silver Medal with my Canadian Warmblood mare, Waimea, was firmly in my sight. We had done a few PSG’s and were scoring consistently in the upper 50s. It looked like a goal we would easily attain by the end of the year.
But in September, 2013 I suddenly lost my beloved partner. Unsure what to do or how to proceed, I did the only thing I knew how to do: keep riding.
I found another mare to be my new partner by the end of the year. Denaria (Didi) is a nine year old 16 hand Zweibrucker mare. I have learned so much training her these past few years! She has shown a very serious talent for jumping so it’s unclear whether she will continue as my dressage horse or go on to be an eventer or jumper. As you can see from this video, she certainly has the talent for it!
Thank you to Jennifer Hanlin Clayton for the fantastic riding and jumping you do with Didi, and to Dr. Mark Donaldson of Unionville Equine for the beautiful pictures.
